MALTODEXTRIN IS A POLYSACCHARIDE. DERIVED FROM STARCH THROUGH A PROCESS CALLED HYDROLYSIS, WHERE STARCH IS BROKEN DOWN INTO SMALLER CARBOHYDRATE SEGMENTS.
USED AS A FOOD ADDITIVE. A WHITE POWDERED SUBSTANCE THAT IS MILDLY SWEET TO HAVING LITTLE TO NO FLAVOUR. NO EXCEPTIONAL SMELL. SOLUBLE IN WATER AND EASILY DIGESTIBLE.
APPLICATIONS:
THICKENER, FILLER OR PRESERVATIVE IN VARIOUS FOOD PRODUCTS (SAUCES, DRESSINGS, AND SNACKS). ALSO FOUND IN ENERGY DRINKS AND SPORTS SUPPLEMENTS. A BINDING AGENT IN THE PRODUCTION OF TABLETS AND CAPSULES.

GENERALLY WELL DIGESTED, IF NOT CONSUMED IN LARGE AMOUNTS.
